English to Georgian translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Law (general) / laws
English term or phrase:statutes
what is the difference in Georgian between statutes and laws. according to English definition it is "A law enacted by a legislature" and codified: enacted by a legislative body; "statute law"; "codified written laws"
Explanation: Well, there is no Statute Law in Georgia. The said concept is applied in the US and some other states (to be best of my knowledge, in UK as well). As to Georgia, the "statutes" may mean ”რეგლამენტი”/"Regulations" (or even "წესდება”/"charter") of a company (or any subsidiary or RO thereof). However, there exist some "international" statutes, like the Rome Statute. And the latter is to be translated as the ”რომის სტატუტი”.
Ia, could you, please, provide the broader context? If so, I could deliver the better advice. Otherwise, please, see as above.

I tried to look for a good English equivalent of this phrase. "sub-legislative normative act" is used in the English version of The Law of Georgia on Normative Acts (year 1996).
If I were you, Ia, I would rather apply "აშშ-ის კანონები და დებულებები/საკანონმდებლო აქტები” (keeping in mind that "საკანონმდებლო აქტები" may be better defined as "statutory acts"). As to the second definition, that may serve well.
I don't think we have only one exact translation to use in every situation. In my case I could use two: sakanonmdeblo aqti for "US laws and statutes" and debuleba for "Biological Weapons Anti-terorrism statute". All this is following the English definition for statutes as "codified laws"

There exists no ”კანონმდებლობითი აქტი” per se. There exist the ”საკანონმდებლო აქტი” and ”კანონქვემდებარე აქტი”. As for the link, please, note that all "statutes" refer to 1992 and shall be construed as the "დებულება”.
როგორც მითხრეს, ამ ბმულში statute საკანონმდებლო/კანონმდებლობითი აქტის (ორივე ფორმა სწორი ყოფილა) მნიშვნელობითაა გამოყენებული, თუმცა statute წესდების მნიშვნელობითაც ხშირად გამოიყენება. ვიმედოვნებ ეს ინფორმაცია გამოგადგება.
