In der Firma, in welcher ich arbeite, werden generell drei Begriffe benutzt: Einleitender Besuch vor Ort, Vorprüfung, Hauptprüfung und Abschlussgespräch mit dem Wirtschaftsprüfer. Hier werden gleich 4 Begriffe benutzt:
Initial On-Site
Pre-Audit
Follow-Up
Re-audit

Darf ich das so verstehen, dass Initial On-site als Einleitender Besuch vor Ort, Pre-audit als Vorprüfung, Follow-up als Abschlussgespräch und Re-audit als Nachfolge-Prüfung übersetzt werden kann? Im englischen Text treten sie chronologisch in dieser Reihenfolge auf, aber es gibt einen Textteil, der alles auf den Kopf stellt:

The type of audit and associated timeframes may vary according to the client’s needs. However, as a general rule, Follow-Up audits will apply when they are executed within 1-180 days of the previous audit. Re-audits will apply for 180 days up to 3 years. Initial on-sites will occur on 3 year cycles.

In der Schweiz werden übrigens immer häufiger gleich die englischen Begriffe verwendet, gerade in Texten für ein Fachpublikum.
Schlicht Audit oder Hauptprüfung scheint in Deinem Fall hier wirklich nicht vorzukommen.
