English to German translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Aerospace / Aviation / Space
English term or phrase:Ace Fighter
E.g.: "This looks like the ace fighter that harassed us at the last battle."
This is from a text about WW2 aircrafts, battles, etc.; unfortunately, I don't have any pictures and often there's not enough context.
So, I'm wondering if there is a certain type of plane called "Ace" (just like Spitfire or Stuka..) or if "Ace Fighter" really refers to the excellent pilot ("Fliegerass")...
Google hasn't been particularly helpful this time...
Explanation: Das ist es wohl, nicht nur Fliegerass. Jagdfliegerasse gibt bei mkir 7570 Treffer.

Es handelt sich doch hier um Jagdflieger, die im einsitzigen Jagdflugzeug viele gegenerische Flugzeuge aller Art abgeschossen haben. Ein Bomberpilot kann wohl nie als Fliegerass bezeichnet werden.

Man beachte doch bitte das Wort "fighter". Fliegerasse wären vielleicht Ace Pilots, wenn es das gäbe.
Google-Treffer gab es viele.. aber wie gesagt, es geht mir ja darum, zu erfahren, ob es überhaupt so einen Flugzeugtypen geben könnte und nicht darum, den Begriff Fliegerass selbst bestätigt zu bekommen :-)

Fighter ist im engeren Sinne normalerweise ein "Abfangjäger", weil die Jagdbomber die fighter bombers sind.
Aber ich denke, dass Fliegerass es am Besten trifft.
Ace ist auf jeden Fall kein Flugzeugmuster ;-)
