English to German translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Aerospace / Aviation / Space | | English term or phrase: crabpot valve | Possibly denotes a type of basketlike adjustable opening in a balloon.
All nbt sources I found relate to a 60s dictionary I already have. As no actual uses seem to be on the net I suspect this is a joke or dummy entry. Anybody that can shed some light here?

| Grading comment Danke. Werde aber eher auf "Rückschlagsperre im.." ausweichen, da Ventil zu stark mit Metall konnotiert IMO. Gruß. 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |

The distribution of this air to the various ballonets
necessitated the use of shut-off and non-return valves. These
were originally made from sheet aluminium and gave very
considerable trouble. It was found, however, that fabric
valves arranged in the form of a sleeve, which can be partially
turned inside out, gave very effective results. This valve is
referred to as a " crab-pot." It is very easily operated and is
almost completely airtight. The diagram shows the arrangement
of blower pipe and 'valves on the smallest type of
ship.

Reference information: These valves a real, but I'm not knowing them myself. I had just to think a little bit about, to get the German expression.
