Die "combined-cycle engine" ist ein Raketenantrieb, der anscheinend seit Jahren in der Entwicklungsphase ist. Er wird in einem Videospiel erwähnt, das ich momentan übersetze, und mir fehlt ein griffiger deutscher Begriff dafür.

Der englische Begriff erscheint auf ziemlich vielen Webseiten, nur halt nicht auf deutschen... Hier noch eine Definition:

Combined cycle engine
A combined cycle engine combines a ramjet with a high performance turbo jet and is capable of flying from low speeds up to Mach V. The engine features low fuel consumption, produces little noise, and emits a cleaner exhaust that has little effect on the environment.

Kombi-Triebwerk

Explanation:
Hört sich an wie ein Kombi-Triebwerk aus Staustrahltriebwerk (mit Unterschallverbrennung [Ramjet]) und Turbinenluftstrahltriebwerk.

Unterschallverbrennung: Das Unterschall bezieht sich hier auf die Strömungsgeschwindigkeit der Luft in der Brennkammer - nicht auf die Geschwindigkeit des Flugkörpers.
