agree  Jutta Wappel: Das ist definitiv die richtige Bedeutung, wobei ich noch kein Schweizer Chalet gesehen habe, das so aussieht ???

  -> Muttersprachlern macht das Element keinen Eindruck, Fremden beeindruckt es aber.Es erweckt ein falsches Bild von Herrlichkeit und strahlt sie in die Ferne aus (wie bei Burgen und Gotteshaeusern).Es ist nur ein Zierelement (zum Prahlen), weiter nichts.

Here are three more for you to choose from; just don't pick "Turmspitze", 'cos that's just the tip at the top. AND it's not necessarily pointed...

agree  LittleBalu: Spitztürmchen - they are not really "Türme", are they? See http://www.bflog.com/view/24845.html for a picture of the hotel we are talking about here.
