Irgendwie steige ich nicht hinter diesen Satz, vor allem das "emerging" macht mir in dem Zusammenhang zu schaffen.
Es geht jedenfalls um Stadtplanung.
Thank you for your input. That is exactly what I thought. I just wonder if they have the guts at university to tell the respective professor that the sentence she wrote is somewhat incomprehensible. ;)
I would say you would be justified in saying that, as it stands, the sentence does not make sufficient sense to be translated without guessing at the meaning. It could be something like herauswachsend but that too would be a guess.
The article was written by a non-native speaker. My request for clarification is unfortunately still pending and the deadline is MO. As usual.....
All in all I have three of these "sentences" left to translate and thought I'd give it a try and see if a native speaker would be able to better understand it.
I wonder if the sentence/article has been written by a non-native speaker. I could understand 'an emerging urban and parametric design' - just about, not being sure what parametric means off the top of my head. Or it might simply be a typo (inversion of the two words), if written by a native speaker. It might be worth checking with the client, just to be sure.

Explanation: auch zwei Begriffe zu verwenden denkbar: schon beim ersten Anblick einen großstädtischen Auftritt darstellt, schon mit dem ersten Eindruck ein großstädtisches Erscheinungsbild vermittelt, usw.

Reference information: Only a reference since I am guessing. But it seems to me that the final design would look like it has naturally developed over time, i.e. it does not look planned or designed, within an urban context. (Another word that comes to my mind is holistic - - also because a voronoi pattern looks rather organic.)

Asker: Danke. Ich denke der Vorschlag geht schon in die richtige Richtung. An so etwas wie Wachstum habe ich gar nicht gedacht, aber wenn man den Rest des Textes in Betracht zieht könnte das ganz gut hinkommen. Es ist darin öfter die Rede davon, nicht einfach nur Planungswerkzeuge zu verwenden.
Reference information: emerging gehört nicht zu urban, sondern zu design. Es geht dem Autor darum, auf eine neue Design-Tendenz Bezug zu nehmen.
