The chuandoushi wooden frames are walled with adobe on the ground floor and planks on the upper floors; the walls have stone foundation courses. Exteriors are plastered and lime-washed, and there are often brick panels at the corners.
Gleich, ob es sich um Einzelfundamente aus geschichteten oder ungeschichteten oder um Einzelblöcke handelt, man kann eine Reihe von Fundamenten immer so bezeichnen. Da kein weiterer Kontext vorliegt, möchte ich mich dazu auch nicht entscheiden. Meine Antwort ist auf alle o.g. Möglichkeiten anwendbar.
Frage an Sonja: Gibt es Detailbeschreibungen oder weiteren Kontext zu den "foundation courses", insbesondere über deren Aufbau?
Und damit wären wir bei meinen Bildern (s.u.), die auf eine Grundmauer aus Stein(en) hindeuten. Für mich ist ein Fundament etwas, worauf das Gebäude errichtet wird und nicht Teil der Mauer. Aber ich lasse mich gerne belehren ;-). http://www.idylle-schoenberger.at/das_haus/index.htm
Was ist wohl damit gemeint? Ich meine, dass die Steinfundamente aus aufgeschichteten Steinen bestehen. PONS Fachw'buch Bauwesen:

coursed blockwork = gerichtetes [geschichtetes] Blockmauerwerk, Schichten-Blokmauerwerk
course = Mauerlage, Mauerschicht, Blockreihe

Reference information: Lijiang, possibly the best preserved old town in China, is one of the last places in this country where a visitor can witness and experience a historic, traditional urban culture.
