Text über Frank Lloyd Wrights Artikel «The Tyranny of the Skycraper»:

Wright’s text revives ideas expressed earlier in the skyscraper debate, especially the idea of New York as money driven new Babylon of high land value encouraging the growth of the skyscraper metropolis and “commercial Bedlam”.

Im Original lautet diese Stelle:
Now what does the human unit, s far in contempt in all this commercial Bedlam, receive as recompense for the pains of stricture and demoralizing loss of freedom, for the insulting degradation of his appropriate sense of space?

An beiden Stellen ist «Bedlam» also gross geschrieben, was mich befürchten lässt, dass hier was ganz Bestimmtes gemeint sein muss... Chaos? Tumult? Oder eben Irrenhaus, in Anlehnung an das berühmte Irrenhaus Bedlam in London (17. Jh.)?

"Bedlam" hätte man damals wohl kaum klein geschrieben. Ob Wright tatsächlich ein metaphorisches Irrenhaus intendierte, scheint fraglich
