English term or phrase: materials

Context: Art publisher offering "language services built on an awareness of style that respects the character of your materials and the work they represent". "Materials" means in this case not only Bewerbungsunterlagen but also specimens of art work. The most obvious word is "Materialien" but I find it very awkward and un-German!!! Any ideas?

Given your explanation, to me, the original "materials and the work they represent" sounds pretty nonsensical.
