English to German translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
English term or phrase:acc.
Eine Abkürzung aus einer Fußnote:
"The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, acc. 1952.3 a-k."
Es wird wohl irgendeine Registernummer sein, da dieses Bild vom Museum erworben wurde. Aber wie lautet die korrekte Museumsterminologie? Nur "Erwerb Nr. ...."?
For lack of space in the agree box:
Prelude: Accession numbers
The most basic piece of information about a Museum object is its accession number. These numbers are assigned when an object enters the collection, are theoretically unique, and have a specific format. The first number refers to the year the object entered the collection, but with the Museum’s own version of the Y2K problem: when they started numbering the objects in 1870, they never imagined the year 1970 would ever arrive. Objects from 1870-1969 have only the last two digits of the year, while from there on they have the full four digits. The second number is simply based on what order the objects were received in. If there is a third number, it means that more than one object was received as part of the same lot. For example, the Morgan gift of 1917 contains thousands of objects. The gift itself is the 190th accession in 1917, so they all begin with 17.190, and go from 17.190.1 up to 17.190.2155. http://libmma.org/portal/finding-information-on-objects-in-t...
