English term or phrase: inform
"The design of the space will also be experimented on, and redefined during the research to see in which way will it **inform** the space the best."

This is from the workplan for a dancing project. The author is not an English native speaker. I don't understand the meaning of "inform" in this sentence.

Explanation:
Ich denke, der Autor will sagen, dass im Zuge der Choreografie auch am "Bühnenbild" (Design) gearbeitet wird, obwohl dieses klar hinter der Choreografie zurücktritt, aber dieses Design leistet eben seinen Beitrag dazu, den Raum auszufüllen, zu beleben, zu beseelen.

Explanation:
Ich nehme an, dass mit "inform" die bestmögliche Nutzung des Raumes gemeint ist. Für mich würde das jedenfalls Sinn machen.
