Hier geht es um eine Auszeichnung für Kunststudenten (zeitgenössische Kunst). Weiss jemand, was mit temporal gemeint ist?
The prize goes to the graduate who has shown most development in their creative talent during their MA year, and is deemed most likely to make a sustained and significant impact in the contemporary art world after graduation. The 2010 award was given to MA student XXX for her series of five ***temporal installations***.

Von dem, was ich über die Werke der Künstlerin sehe, geht es ja nicht unbedingt um prozessuale Vorgänge, sondern der Zeitbezug besteht wohl eher darin, dass die Installationen täglich geändert wurden.

"Zeitinstallationen" (vielleicht mit Anführungszeichen)...denn so klar ist im AT nicht, worauf sich das "temporal" bezieht. Soweit ich sehe, geht es nicht um temporale Vorgänge im Kunstwerk selbst, sondern um einen temporalen Bezug im Kunstschaffen. Um zeitgenössisch geht es m.E. hier nicht, ist ja danach als temporary art angegeben.
I found another definition of 'temporal' that might be pertinent here. A work may be limited by time, but that is only one of the work's aspects, and does not necessarily have to be its primary object?

Das 'zeitbezogen' überzeugt mich leider nicht, weil die Betonung einfach zu sehr auf die Zeit selbst ist. Ich denke, ohne weitere Angaben über diese Installationen und die Ziele der Künstlerin werden wir leider nicht weiter kommen. Nun habe auch noch eine dritte Beschreibung gefunden, und das ist die 'vergängliche Installation' (wobei ich 'vergänglich' als ein synonym für 'temporär' interpretiere):
Sorry, but I disagree that ‘Temporal’ refers to (physical) form. Per definition it refers to the element of time as the object of consideration. I do agree that spatial qualities were probably even more central to these installations. But imo the jury use "temporal" to emphasize the interaction of the works with the time continuum (through their very ephemerality).
dass die betreffende Kunsthochschule in ihrer "zeitbezogenen" Abt. das Augenmerk betont auf digitale Technologien richtet, sollte nicht irritieren. Auch Werke "analoger" Medien sind "zeitbezogen"/"temporal", wenn sie s.m.d. Faktor Zeit auseinandersetzen. Daß beim Werk hier der Raum e.wichtige Rolle spielt, spielt in Bezug auf den Begriff "temporal" keine Rolle--sollte also außen vor bleiben.
eigentlich bin ich mit Lonnie's Interpretation schon einverstanden, bloß der Hinweis auf die aktuellen digitalen Technologien in dem Link irritiert mich ein bisschen...
Vielleicht "Raum-Zeit-Installation"? Das würde die Interaktion zwischen beidem noch betonen, denn wie Annett richtig sagt, spielt der Raum ja eine wichtige Rolle, aber eben schon im Zusammenhang mit der Zeit...
I'm not sure that time itself is the theme of these installations, as it would be in ‘zeitbezogene Kunst’ (if I understand the term correctly). As it says in Kriddl’s link: ‘each mini show was a reaction to the **space** itself, exploring the narratives between situation, space and object.’ That is why I read ‘temporal installation’ in the sense that each of the five works/installations will exist only for a short period of time and in that particular context. ‘Temporal’ would here refer to the form within which the work occurs rather than its content.
The distinction is significant. A work can be temporal (examining time) yet permanent. Andererseits, um beim Beispiel "Land Art" zu bleiben, ist ein als Bild gestaltetes Maisfeld sicher temporär (es vergeht), aber dann nur "zeitbezogene Kunst", wenn der Künstler den Faktor Zeit in den Mittelpunkt rückt--was hier der Fall zu sein scheint (sieht Jurybegründung).

Asker: aber temporal und temporary sind doch zwei verschiedene Sachen, oder verstehe ich das falsch? Könnte es vielleicht eher in Richtung "zeitgenössisch" gehen?
