THANK YOU EVERYBODY !!!! I think you've come up with some wonderful solutions from all kinds of angles ...from more spiritual to hmm quite physical :)) I hope this thread may be helpful to others. Personally I do like Christian Werner's "Hand anlegen" and Thayenga's "Körpereinsatz" best, those and especially the latter seemes perfect for the image. Thanks so much again everybody .

Dieses eröffnet dem Benutzer der Sprache Raum zum Spielen mit der Sprache. Genau dieses ist hier gefragt. Bitte haben Sie Verständnis, dafür, dass ich im Hinblick auf meinen Klienten hier keine Links etc. setzen kann und möchte. Die Aufgabenstellung war klar erläutert und viele der Autoren , die hier geantwortet haben, haben sie verstanden und gute Vorschläge gemacht im Gegensatz zu einem langjährigen Mitglied, was mir eine Wutmail zukommen ließ, weil ich offensichtlich gegen ihr Verständnis dieser Seite verstossen habe. You're missing the point here ... it's not about judging but to provide variety. The term is far from being definite, unambigous and easily explained. It's about developing a sense for the many facets and to come up with something which includes as many as possible . In English getting physical has the ability of expressing or insinuating two or more meanings at the same time. That's what I'm after in the German translation : a defined phrase and at the same time light and playful with only a gentle breath needed like a slight change of position to give it another direction and provoke different thoughts. That's very subtle business.If you like you could list the different meanings that apply to get physical then try to find a translation similarly rich in content. So far I am very thankful for all the different interpretations posted offering solutions for different fields.

What is even more striking than the variety of posts ventured is that no one so far has ventured to judge them. Obviously there's no way to sensibly judge them when you've provided so little *detail* as to the actual visual content of the painting...

Sometimes it's not just 1+1=2.In a lot of instances translation is a matter of interpretation or depends on the vision/approach a translator chooses to employ on the assignment. So in a way translating holds quite a bit of a political and cultural responsibility . If you may also come up with a solution different from what has already been provided that would be splendid.
