English term or phrase:hydrodynamical head wind
As the small galaxies come close to the massive galaxies ten billions of years ago they were stirred and stretched by their tidal force and encountered an hydrodynamical head wind as they penetrated the gaseous corona of the larger galaxies.
Hydrodynamischer Wind? Ich finde leider keine Quellen dazu! Herzlicher Dank zum voraus für eure Hilfe!
Alan Johnson: 2:10pm Jan 17, 2007: Was this written by an English native speaker? It sounds odd. For one thing, galaxies don't coronae, they have halos. And I have my doubts about the existence of hydrodynamical head winds in intergalactic space. ibz: 2:20pm Jan 17, 2007: English writer? - Actually I'm not too sure about that. There are some very strange parts in this article... Kristina Wolf: 2:51pm Jan 17, 2007: Have forwarded this to my husband who is an astronomer. He should be able to tell us if it is a term they use.
