Context: Function of throttle position sensor in a car
I'm getting a little confused as to the usage of "accelerator" and "throttle". I found the spelling "accelerator/throttle" very often. However, the spelling
"accelerator throttle" (without a slash) can also be found. Is that simply a misspelling? Or is an "accelerator throttle" something else than a "Gaspedal"?
Ex.: "The engine idles when started and only engages when the accelerator throttle is opened"
Explanation: throttle opening ist die Drosselklappenöffnung, die ja durch das Gaspedal betätigt wird ;-)

Wahrscheinlich steht hier wohl "accelerator", weil die Kiste ein E-Gas- bzw. Drive-by-Wire-System hat (haben heute eigentlich so ziemlich alle). Die DK-Öffnung wird generell von der Fahrpedalbetätigung bestimmt. "accelerator" auf D einfach weglassen.

Asker: Ja, ich weiß, aber in meinem Text ist immer von "accelerator throttle opening" die Rede. Kann ich hier einfach "accelerator" ignorieren und "Drosselklappenöffnung" nehmen? Ein Bsp: "...gear shifts are made according to the accelerator throttle opening". Was also schreiben?
