English term or phrase: colony sweep
Colony-sweep
Twenty-two frozen fecal samples, previously found to contain various strains of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, were each streaked onto XLD (xylose lysine deoxycholate) and sorbital MacConkey (SMAC) plates and incubated overnight at 37º C. A swab was used to sweep the first and the second quadrants of the growth area and was then immersed into a reaction tube containing the conjugates. Though one sample failed to produce colonies on the plate, 21/21 of the fecal samples with growth produced positive OIA SHIGATOX results for 100% agreement with previous specimen results regardless of the plating medium.

Kolonie-Abstrich
Explanation:
Nie gehört, aber es wird mMn ein Abstrich beschrieben. Evtl. besser "Kolonienabstrich", denn schließlich werden mehrere Kolonien auf einmal vom Wattestab aufgenommen.

Danke. Habe mich für "Kolonieabstrich" entschieden. Ergibt immerhin 2 Google-Treffer. Das Fugen-n scheint in diesem Fall verzichtbar. Frohes Fest!
