Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-) / evolution - possibly Scottish term?
English term or phrase: green gloop
This is a description of early bacteria for an audio guide (exhibition on evolution).

Headline: Green Gloop (Early single-celled creatures)

"It all began with this gloop. Three thousand million years ago bacteria emerged. They took their energy from a chemical that was abundant then – sulphur. These single-celled creatures lived happily for around a thousand million years until some began to turn green. These were early photo synthesising bacteria."

So far I've come up with "grüner Glibber", trying to keep the alliteration, but I'm not sure this entirely captures it. The stuff looks like some sort of slimey broth, even though the pictures aren't very clear. I wonder whether "gloop" actually has a specific meaning and whether it is something a bit more solid than "Glibber". Incidentally, this is a Scottish text.
Many thanks!

Glibber, Schleim, amorphe Masse
Explanation:
"Gloop" ist tatsächlich so etwas wie Glibber oder Schleim von nicht fester Konsistenz. Vielleicht könntest du es aber neutraler einfach "grüne amorphe Masse" nennen, falls das besser zum sonstigen Stil des Artikels passt.
