English to German translations [PRO]
Medical - Botany / names of herbs | | English term or phrase: Fagonia spp | | What I have is just a list of different latin names of herbs used in medicine. This is just one of the names on the list. If you could direct me to a good botanic dictionary I would really appreciate that. The dictionaries that I know and use a lot can't help me here. Thanks in advance! |

Die wissenschaftlichen Namen sind identisch.
Auf Deutsch spricht man von der Gattung Fagonia, umgangssprachlich von Fagonien. Bei den Artnamen geht es dann schon ziemlich durcheinander; so wird Fagonia cretica Kretische Fagonie oder auch Weißblütige Fagonie genannt.
Ich habe die Erfahrung gemacht, dass es am leichtesten ist, nach dem botanischen Namen zu googeln. Dann findet man recht schnell Übersetzungen. Als Biologin bin ich aber dafür, immer auch den botanischen Namen anzugeben, dann gibt es keine Missverständnisse.

Wenn der Text allgemein verständlich sein soll, kann man ja weitestgehend versuchen, einen Trivialnamen anzugeben und dann den Artnamen in Klammern setzen. |
