Schultersaison / Übergangsmonat Explanation: There is no such word as a Schultermonat; however, the travel industry does use the term "Schultersaison", so you could possibly say s.th. like "während der Schultersaison" or "während der in die Schultersaison fallenden Monate" (both of which would imply that the period is longer than one month). If it's only one month, I'd suggest using "Übergangsmonat" (~ transition month) or "Saisonübergangsmonat" (transition month between seasons). |

ONLY "Übergangsmonat(e)" Explanation: Confirmation for uel's "Übergangsmonate", but ONLY for "Übergangsmonate". According to the English part of this Dutch gas supply company: http://www.gasunie.nl/Eng/CDS/p_l3.htm The months are categorized as follows: Summer = April, May, June, July, August, September shoulder = March, October, November Winter = December, January and February The corresponding Dutch page of the site uses the word "flanken" which is also logical but there were no search engine hits in German for "Flankenmonat(e)" or "Flankenzeit". This American site: http://www.plpower.com/plp/noflash/three.html shows the "Shoulder Months" to be: March, April, May, June, September None of the German utilities sites I found used such a system, they all used the same price year-round. The AltaVista queries +Gas +Übergangsmonate yielded these hits. http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/hgrasshoff/presse.h... http://www.thermolux.de/FrageD.htm http://www.michel-schorndorf.de/faq.htm http://www.sendner.com/mair/modernisierung.htm http://www.vis.de/schlaak/ This phrase was also used: "... Übergangszeit(en) (Frühling/Herbst) ..." as at these sites: http://www.bau.org/forum/fussbodenheizung/1.htm http://www.ratiotherm.de/quellen.htm http://www.ibf-niedrig-energiehaus.de/heizung2.html but without the words "Frühling/Herbst", "Übergangszeit(en)" could have too many other meanings. - HTH - Dan |
