Science - Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng / chemical kinetics
English term or phrase: balanced reaction

In equation xxx uppercase letters indicate a chemical species and lowercase letters represent the stoichiometric coefficient for the species in the *balanced reaction*. The species on the left-hand and right-hand sides of the arrow are referred to as reactants and products, respectively.

ausgeglichene Gleichung
Explanation:
(stöchiometrisch) ausgeglichene Gleichung, d.h. Gleichung mit Koeffizienten

meaning that the numbers jive on either side of the equation.

BTW, strictly speaking it's not the reaction that's balanced, but the equation

umkehrbare Reaktion

Explanation:
lt. Kucera WB d.

disagree  Cilian O'Tuama: here they're talking about balancing the equations which represent equilibrium reactions, and not about the reactions themselves//but it's about the mathematics (reaction rates, kinetics) not the chemistry (G'night)

-> but the equation merely serves to describe "the reactions themselves"

agree  sjkm: see also: library.thinkquest.org/C004970/redox/balance.htm or google "to balance a reaction", you will see it is used synonymous with "to balance and equation", maybe only in American English? I have often heard it in chem classes here

ausgeglichene Reaktion(sgleichung)

Explanation:
balancing a reaction means the same as balancing an equation,
apparently, in German as well one can "eine Reaktion ausgleichen" or "eine Gleichung ausgleichen" so you could either use "ausgeglichene Reaktion" oder "ausgeglichene Reaktionsgleichung" (Link 2 supports Reaktionsgleichung ausgleichen as well as Reaktion ausgleichen). You also have an example there for these upper and lowercase equations.
