English term or phrase: General Aviation
"They arrive in the general aviation area." (of an airport)
I suppose this is the part where there are no private jets. I wonder whether the term even exists in German, as private jets and therefore areas reserved for them aren't very common. Thus a whole German Airport would be a gen. av. area..?? Any suggestions? Thanks.

disagree  Brie Vernier: Did you try googling "allgemeiner Luftfahrtbereich"? The distinction is not between civil and military, but between private aircraft, whether commercial or not, and major airlines.

neutral  Brie Vernier: Es müssen nicht Charterflugzeuge sein, es kann auch Privatflugzeuge sein, die einfach spazieren fliegen. "General Aviation Terminal" hätt's auch getan, oder auch GA-Bereich.
