Kontext: Theaterkritik zu "Scrooge"-Musical

It's the American premiere of a property well-loved in England, for reasons that have something to do with a popular audience's apparently inexhaustable ardor for "A Christmas Carol", and something to do, I suppose, with the songs which are **nothing if not hummable**.

Bedeutet das, dass die Lieder nicht viel taugen, außer dass man sie gut (nach-)summen kann?

Nein, ich denke nicht, dass damit zwangsläufig gemeint sein muss, dass die Lieder nicht viel taugen. Gemeint ist einfach, dass man den Liedern als Mindestes zugestehen muss, dass sie sich zum Nachsummen eignen.

Ganz im Gegenteil: Die englische Konstruktion "nothing if not..." hat als "doppelte Verneinung" im Deutschen den Sinn der "positiven Betonung des Ausdrucksinhalts", also "äußerst eingängig", "äußerst singbar" etc.
