In the connections, it may be necessary *to loop (usually kept "High) CS and RS on the host side* depending on the type of host.

Ich verstehen zwar ungefähr, was hier gemeint ist, wäre allerdings dankbar für eine Bestätigung für den Satz. Das loop on bereitet mir leichte Kopfschmerzen.

Explanation:
Versuch einer Erklärung:
In der Telekom heisst das: Die Verbindung wird auf der Host-Seite "rückgeschleift", evtl. auch nur "geschleift"; der Host ist hier der Vermittlungsgroßrechner.
In deinem Fall ist der Etikettendrucker auch an einen steuernden Rechner (Computer = Host) angeschlossen, an dem mit Hilfe eines Steckers eine Schleife gelegt werden muss.
(Vielleicht liege ich aber auch komplett falsch...)

neutral  Arthur Allmendinger: "Brücke" und "Schleife" haben verschiedene Bedeutungen.

  -> bridging (Brücke) the pins results in a loop (Schleife), the effect being that when the host sets RTS High it automatically sees CTS High, irrespective of the client's status
