English term or phrase: contrast and density (of a monitor)
In meinem Text gibt es folgende Wartungsbeschreibung:

"Checking the fan on the CPU, contrast and _density_ on the monitor and the presence of all keys on the keyboard."

Mr. Scognamiglio, I know what all these terms mean.
I could suggest that you weigh your monitor, then submerse it in water to measure its displacement, and with these data compute the density (the ratio between the mass of an object and its volume):
http://www.lbl.gov/abc/Glossary.html
This amounts to the equivalent of your referring me to the definition of resolution. :-)
I agree with Antje that density seems out of place here. It is used in photography and in printing photos, but not in setting monitors.
I invite you to search the web and show native English speaker pages (not Japanese) that instruct you to adjust the density of your monitor. Contrast, brightness, resolution, but not density.
