well, I was sure this has been asked before, but there isn't any entry in the glossaries...

this is about an entry into a screen...

Groß-/Kleinschreibung beachten
Explanation:
English-German Win XP glossary (and other glossies)

If it is in the documentation, it's in the imperative form: Beachten Sie ..., if it's a software command, it is 'Groß-/Kleinschreibung beachten'. BTW: German still has use for the ß.

Groß-/Kleinschrift-empfindlich

Explanation:
That gives the meaning - I found it in Ferretti's Wörterbuch der Datentechnik (not one of the great dictionaries). Sounds horrible.

Perhaps this should be defined as 'easy'!

May I add that I was giving the meaning, not a good translation. It isn\'t clear whether the poster knows the meaning, or could give a good translation himself on the basis of the explanation.

neutral  Andrea Kopf: too literal a translation

agree  Geneviève von Levetzow: Einverstanden mit den Kollegen, nicht nur "horrible", sondern unüblich

disagree  Jerzy Czopik: Why do you porpose it, if it sounds horrible to you?

-> I've already explained twice. Because the poster may need just a definition.

agree  TonyTK: Awful. But with no context, it's the only correct explanation on the board. A lot of people don't seem to read the questions, but it'd be nice if they at least tried to read the answers.

"Achten Sie auf/Beachten Sie die Gross-/Kleinschreibung" (von Benutzername und Passwort)!!

Explanation:
In a screen entry this would usually be addressed to the user directly this way. I think it's about user names and passwords for a website or so.
