Siemens erklärt Rung/Strompfad wie folgt: Merkmal der Programmiersprache Kontaktplan. Strompfade enthalten Kontakte und Spulen. In die Strompfade können auch komplexe Elemente (z. B. mathematische Funktionen) in Form von ”Boxen” eingefügt werden. Strompfade (rungs) werden an eine Stromschiene (Power rail) angeschlossen.
