League bezieht sich u. a. auf 'Liga' (Sport), letztendlich geht es aber um die so genannte 'Kragenweite' oder 'Klasse':
Beispiel:
Hey chap, don't even think about it - this girl is way out of your league.
Hier bezieht sich 'league' jedoch auf das Niveau der Köche selbst: Profiköche (auf gehobener/gutbürgerlicher Ebene oder was auch immer), semiprofessionelle Hobbyköche, Hobbyköche mit Erfahrung, Wochenendköche ...
Bei 'business' geht es um dasselbe: Professionell geführtes Sternerestaurant, gutbürgerliche Küche, das Familienrestaurant im Viertel, Catering oder privater Rahmen usw.
Ich glaube nicht, dass es sich hier um eine idiomatische Metapher handelt, eher um einen Ausdruck, der häufiger in dieser Form verwendet wird, sich aber nicht als feststehend eingebürgert hat.
