Can anyone imagine how exactly the spring onions should be cut?

The top and bottom (leaves and roots) cut off (i.e. topped and tailed) and then halved across instead of lengthways, as Véronika Lenoir already said above.

Ueber die "scallions " haette ich zu mecckern- Die Fruehlingszwiebeln sind nicht unbedingt "scallions- oft geht es sogar um Lauch. Oder einfach die fruehzeitg herausgezogenen Zwiebelchen. "Scallion. der dt. Ausdruck faellt mir jetzt nicht ein- ist ja ein Hybride zwischen Knoblauch und Zwiebel- -échallotte- aber Dt? Aber der Asker ist ja unschuldig!

Geht wie beim Sellerie (natuerlich die Stauden)- oder bei der glattblaettrigen Petersilie. In vielen Laendern wird das Gruen mitbenutzt- (Sellerie) in andren abgeschnitten und nicht verwendet. In Europa werden nromalerweise con der Ptersilie die Blaetter verwendet- im Ausland speziell die Stiehle. Aber man spricht immer von Gruen und Wurzeln- das wollte ich eigentlich sagen.
