I have never been involved in the US school system.
From my research I guess this is some kind of test/evaluation program to find out if a child has problems at school. I would very much appreciate an explanation what can be involved here and, of course, suggestions how this is best translated. THANKS.
Thank you all very much for your quick feedback. I really think it is meant in a broad and rather general sense as Steffen and Stephanie suggested. And, of course, the superintendent of the school district writing this letter wants everybody to know how good they are. Maybe I will just call it "pädagogische Fördermaßnahmen". Decision making time will be tomorrow as I will have to call it a day now. Good night!
Intervention is often used in a broad sense to include all measures taken to meet the needs of all students so that would include tutoring, after school programs...Using it in the sentence you provided is rather redundant but I assume that they put it there to mean other types of interventions not mentioned. This could include one on one support, math, literacy, language specialists/coaches, directed curriculum/instruction programs ie I think it's called Reading 180 or just 180 - a specialized reading program (pull out) for struggling students.
The supports listed: tutoring after school are the standard or first line of intervention strategies. This line sounds like something out of a policy manual - mission/goal statement.
So I would agree with "Förderunterricht", "Nachhilfe" but could also include Streitschlichtungen and parent child advocacy.
I think it can be mobbing etc. but only amongst many other things. I, too, have found much more evidence supporting Steffen's link. What do you think about "Förderunterricht" (suggested by my daughter)?
