HV & LV Windings
The HV and LV windings shall be of copper or aluminium.
Both the HV and LV windings shall be encapsulated in glass fibre or quartz rein-forced epoxy resin. Encapsulation of the winding shall be achieved by vacuum im-pregnation at elevated temperature and shall be free of bubbles and voids. The LV winding shall be liberally designed and adequately insulated and supported to withstand the short circuit forces.
The coil assemblies shall be acoustically insulated from each other and from the base frame. The winding must not absorb any humidity during long storage periods (exceeding one year) in local atmospheric conditions. The high and low voltage winding shall have insulation material, conforming to IEC 726. Dielectric strength of the insulation materials shall conform to the BIL - values specified. Additionally, no measurable partial - discharges shall occur up to twice the rated voltage of each winding. The complete encapsulation shall be impervious to moisture and common industrial contaminants.
The insulation material used shall be self-extinguishing, if ignited by direct flame or arc.
No toxic gases shall form during heating and/or burning. When subjected to a continuous ***bolted short-circuit*** on the LV terminals, the transformer shall not ex-plode or expel molten material. |

Findet man auch im ERNST: bolted (fault) (electr) = satt / bolted fault (electr) = satter Kurzschluss.

Junge, Lexikon Elektrotechnik:
"Man unterscheidet Zwischen Kurzschluss durch metallische Berührung (satter Kurzschluss) und Kurzschluss über einen Fehlerwiderstand. Im letzteren Fall tritt ein Lichtbogen auf." |

| Grading comment Hatte für meine Suche bolted short eingegeben und nicht nur bolted (etwas für die Zukunft gelernt). Danke Rolf und Christine und allen agree-ers und disagree-ers! 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |
