Please consider my annexes posted after grading. I have learned electrician, studied electricity and worked 40 years in this field. I used these instrument during my career and know its function. The trigger is not the clamp (or jaw), but the button for opening and closing of the jaws.
ist hier das Thema. Diese besitzen zwei Zangen aus Magnetblech, deren Backen wie bei einer Kombizange durch Drücken auf den Hebel geöffnet werden und sich anschließend verriegeln. Je nach konstruktiver Ausführung muß zum Entriegeln der Entriegelungsknopf oder die Zange nochmal gedrückt werden.
Die gewählte Antwort ist eindeutig falsch.

Sicher, handelt sich um ein Gerät und so ist der Beispiel falsch ausgewählt. Es tut mir leid.
Aber trotzt soll man ein trigger drucken, nicht nur mit den Fingern eine Klemme drucken. Ein Trigger ist eine Vorrichtung und to trigger ist auslösen und trigger ist Auslöser [Internet Leo]. Auslöser scheint zu stimmen.
Eine Abbildung wäre eine große Hilfe um einen Begriff zu geben.

Conclusion: The trigger is used to lock or unlock the transformer jaws. This push-button is called differently in German by different companies (Zangenbetätigung, Druckklemme, Öffnungshebel ...). All these denominations are not very common. As electrical engineer I would call it "Verrriegelungsknopf", what specifies the function.
