Ich übersetze einen technischen Informationsbrief zu einer WKA. Der AT ist eine Übersetzung aus einer anderen Sprache ins Englische, daher habe ich teilweise große Verständnisprobleme.

In der Überschrift taucht der Ausdruck das erste Mal auf:
"USE OF STEEL BALL BEARINGS TO PREVENT **BOLT RUN-OUT**"
Im späteren Verlauf des Textes heisst es dann:
"A steel ball bearing is used as a stopgap, installed into the tapped holes to limit **run-out** of threaded bolts."

Bei run-out denke ich normalerweise an Rundlauffehler oder etwas in der Art, aber zum einen will das nicht so recht zu bolts passen, zum anderen hat mir der Kunde nun folgende Erklärung nachgeschickt, aus der ich leider auch nicht so recht schlau werde:
"Run-out in this context refers to a condition where a bolt is screwed into a threaded hole past the point where the threads of the hole stop, thus damaging the threads of the bolt near its extremity." Ist damit das Überdrehen gemeint?
