| English term or phrase: mechanical draft cooling tower gearbox | Aus einem Schadensbericht:
XXX Power Station has recently suffered a number of failures of the ***mechanical draft cooling tower gearboxes***. These have taken the form of a helical pinion on an intermediate shaft in the gear box showing severe pitting and spalling. This type of defect was found on all of the gearboxes that had been in service at this site and was found on most teeth on the pinion shafts, to a greater or lesser degree.
The OEM involved conducted an investigation and concluded that the cause was instability of electrical supply to the gearbox motor causing periods where higher than usual torque is supplied to the gearbox. The OEM claims that the supply instability can account for this type of damage that is localised to only one part of the tooth flank.
This report gives comment on the previous OEM reports, assesses the failure mechanism, and explores the possible causes for failure more fully than has been done by the OEM. The OEM had omitted some detail in their explanation of the cause of failure and this report requests that this be elaborated.
Regardless on whether or not the claim from the OEM is established as a probable cause this report offers recommendations of how best to move forward. It offers recommendations on what further investigation needs to take place to firmly establish the cause of this failure and what remedial action should be applied.
Cooling tower gearbox ist Kühlturmgetriebe, aber ich weiß nicht, wie ich den "mechanical draft" einbauen soll, oder was damit genau gemeint ist. |
