English term or phrase: the matte
Hard sorts are typically caused by paste lumps pushing through the matte and shorting out to the adjacent (opposite polarity) plate.

Habe keine Anhnung, was "the matte" bedeuten soll, kann mir jemand weiterhelfen??

Auch eine Matte ist wohl allgemein "non-woven", aber bei einem Glasvlies schränkt man sich von vornherein wohl noch stärker auf "non-woven" ein.
