Auszug aus einer technischen Anleitung für einen Kuhnachtreiber in einem Melkstand:

The brass sleeve is needed to ensure that the stainless cable is properly fitted in the cable barrel due to difference in cable diameter. On new installations the cable barrel is changed to fit the cable without this part.

neutral  Bernd Runge: Und wie würdest du "... cable barrel is changed to fit the cable without this part" übersetzen. Damit die Kabeltrommel auch ohne dieses Teil passt ? ;-) ähem.

agree  patrans: Kann hier nur Kabelhülse oder Hülse sein, Kabeltrommel erscheint nicht sinnvoll, wenn vorher eine Buchse zur Größenanpassung erforderlich war. Siehe auch Ernst, barrel (of the connector pin) = Hülse (am Steckerstift)
