Carbon footprint measures total amount of greenhouse gas emissions released into the environment. Greenhouse gas emissions from all sources are summed up and changed into units of CO2 equivalent which is used to standardize greenhouse gas emissions and help make comparisons from different time periods and across industries. Carbon emissions are usually measured in metric tons per year (1 metric ton equals 2204lbs).

Yes  Katrin Lueke: stimme voll und ganz zu // Ich bin gegen diese ganzen "Fußabdrücke", die ich für eine rein wörtliche Übersetzung aus dem Englischen halte

  -> Danke! Ja, ich versuche auch wenn möglich gute deutsche Ausdrücke und Worte zu verwenden, es gibt schon viel zu viele grässliche (und falsche) Übersetzungen und Anglizismen (ich sage nur "Handy"?!)!
No  Noe Tessmann: Ich bin ja nicht gegen deutsche Ausdrücke, aber der Fußabdruck ist eben sehr anschaulich, Bilanz klingt nach Konzernsprache und Schönfärberei

  -> siehe mein Kommentar oben. Ich finde den Ausdruck "Fußabdruck" eben so gar nicht Deutsch - in welchem anderen Zusammenhang wird er denn sonst noch verwendet?
Yes  Steffen Walter: CO2-Bilanz und CO2-Fußabdruck sind Synonyme, wobei ich die "Bilanz" vorziehe.
