I'm working on a document detailing the steps a business has to perform in order to keep records for possible audits, specifically regarding the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and Basel II.
Under the heading "Bank Account Reconciliation" there is the following sentence:
"The supervisor might review the levels of differences, the ageing of differences and any significant changes in the ageing or levels. The review might also involve inquiry into old items and review the actions taken to date."
What does "ageing" mean in in this context?
