Hier geht es um Rückstellungen. Beispiel: "Ingersoll-Rand Co. Friday said it would take a non-cash charge of $449 million related to its liability for all ... asbestos claims ... The charge will be recorded in the company's discontinued operations..."

Hier nochmal mehr Kontext (Sorry, war vorhin etwas in Eile):
Today we are announcing that XYZ must adjust its guidance downward for the 1st quarter due to rapidly deteriorating business conditions. With that we are also announcing that we will be ***taking a provision, or a financial charge***, to cover asset management actions and position reductions in the FY09. While these are not yet finalized, we are estimating that over the course of 2009, we will eliminate roughly 5,000 positions globally.
