English to German translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Food & Drink
English term or phrase: mermit (here)
Mermiting of food
"The contractor shall ensure that all mermiting containers and field equipment are clean and sanitized upon receipt and completion of mermitting services."
Was bedeutet 'mermit' im eigentlichen Sinn?

MERMITE CONTAINER :
insulated, subdivided, sturdy container for transporting hot or cold food to troops in the field; military version of the portable "cooler" chest. The metal MERMITE has been succeeded by the "Insulated Food Container" (IFC), made of impact-resistant high-density polyethylene, which uses standardized steam-table inserts, is more convenient to handle, and is easier to clean.
