Basiert auf BE. Kneipe dort wäre ziemlich sicher pub; bar hat Konnotation von teurer, dress code, upmarket, and especially late hours!

neutral Irene Schlotter, Dipl.-Übers.: Das gilt sicher für GB, nicht aber für die USA/Kanada. Je nachdem, wo der Text herkommt, passt 'Kneipe' für 'bar'.

neutral Marnen Laibow-Koser: Irene is correct. "Bar" doesn't really have this connotation in the US (since we don't really use "pub"); if it does in German, then "Kneipe" is probably the better choice.

Explanation:
Ich würde auch Kneipe nehmen, Bar klingt im Deutschen leicht anrüchig. Wenn du dich nicht festlegen möchtest, dann könntest du auch "außer Haus" schreiben.

abgesehen von meiner Wertung zur Kneipe, fiel mir grad spontan noch dieses ein...
gibt ja Biergarten, Bierkneipe, Bierlokal, Biertheke..... je nach Kontext.
