English to German translations [PRO]
Food & Dairy / candy / confectionary | | English term or phrase: functional candy | No context to speak of, this term appears in a list of confectionary categories which this company is planning to expand into.
The product list reads simply "mints, functional hard candy, chewy candy and other existing forms"
From what I've been able to research, "functional candy" is candy that is supposed to be good for you, i.e. candy with added calcium, or added vitamins, or some other additive that makes the candy more than just a sweet (thus presumably relieving any feelings of guilt on the part of the consumer, and at the same time justifying a higher price for the manufacturer...).
I've been thinking in the direction of "gesunde Süßwaren", but that sounds too much like a contradiction in terms.
I won't be able to launch into a long-winded explanation of this stuff as this is a poster, and the English is already rather crowded.
Any ideas?
