I'm absolutely not sure. The author is an Italian and there are a lot of mistakes in the whole text, but I found this term several times in this document.

I think "shorn wood" is veneer that has been sheared or sliced from a log.
Schälfurnier
Beim Schälen werden die Stämme zuerst 48 Stunden gekocht, danach entrindet und dann wie eine Walze drehbar eingespannt. Der Stamm rotiert anschließend schnell um die eigene Achse gegen einen Messerbalken, der vom Stamm ein Furnierband abtrennt. Man kann sich das beim Abwickeln einer Küchenpapierrolle gut vorstellen. Das Furnierband wird dann in schmale, einzelne Furnierblätter durch senkrecht schlagende oder rotierende Messer (so genannte Clipper) aufgeteilt.

Veneer is obtained by 'peeling' the trunk of a tree, which is the predominant area used for architectural veneers (see also inlay). The appearance of the grain, or "figure", in wood comes from slicing through the growth rings of a tree and depends upon the angle at which the wood is sliced. There are three main types of veneer slicing equipment used commercially:
• A slicing machine in which the flitch or piece of log is raised and lowered against the blade and slices of the log are made.
