neutral  Kim Metzger: I've never heard of "to sun" meaning to heat. I think it's redundant (and very strange English) for "place in the sunlight".

agree  Irene Schlotter, Dipl.-Übers.: Ich würde eher 'Sonneneinstrahlung' wählen. Dichtungen werden übrigens spröde - durch Wärme und auch durch Sonneneinstrahlung.
