"Environmental artists" sind bei Computerspielen die Grafiker, die für die Gestaltung der Umgebungshintergründe zuständig sind. Mein Vorschlag wäre:
1. Den Kunden fragen, ob die Credits überhaupt übersetzt werden sollen. Oft werden sie es nicht.
2. Wenn unbedingt eine Übersetzung verlangt wird, vielleicht "Umgebungshintergründe" oder "Hintergrundgrafiken" oder ähnliches schreiben.

Jim Nelson, environmental artist with Realtime Worlds, began as a 2D and 3D computer artist in the army. He started making game art using a laptop and free programs that came with magazines. By the time he left, he had a good enough portfolio to get his first job. Now he's responsible for producing life-like architecture and landscapes capable of transporting players into the world of the game.
"Practice with the developmental tools out there. Make models of cars, phone boxes, rubbish bins, whatever you can." he says. He also suggests joining an agency specialising in computer art and design. Having skills in a number of 3D and 2D design packages, as well as traditional art skills such as modelling and texturing will make you more marketable.
