English term or phrase: a Cryer for the Dead
Hallo!

Ich habe hier eine Liste mit Personen und Bezeichnungen, die zu einem Adventure-Spiel gehören, das recht mystisch, um nicht zu sagen keltisch :-) angehaucht ist.

(name), a Cryer for the Dead

Was genau ist darunter zu verstehen?

Danke.

a cryer for the dead
not sure what is meant

Explanation:
Normally the "cryer" would be "Ansager" in German

The "Cryer of the dead" could also be a banshee

The Banshee, from the Irish bean sí ("woman of the sídhe" or "woman of the fairy mound") is a female spirit in Irish mythology, usually seen as an omen of death and a messenger from the Otherworld. Her Scottish counterpart is the Bean Nighe ("washer-woman").
The banshee wails around a house if someone is about to die.

neutral  David Hollywood: banshee bean sí (fairy woman) announces imminent death but not sure if that's the idea of ""Cryer for the Dead" who have already passed away ....

-> akker specified the game was "keltisch angehaucht". What is "keltich" about a paid mourner?

neutral  Nadine Kahn: I don't like "Totenkläger" either. That is a mourner...
