In that article appears a list of features and *automatic save game type detection* is on of the features...without further explanation.
I do realize that it has something to do with automatic saving of files or games but I am looking for a correct German word or phrase.

agree  Thomas Giebler: Würde ich auch so formuliueren. Video-/Computerspiele werden häufig "gepatcht", und die Erkennung bezieht sich dann wahrscheinlich auf Spielstände, die unter einer früheren Version des Spiels angelegt wurden.
