Stellt euch diesen Kontext vor: ein Typ setzt im Spielcasino (es geht ja hier um ein Spielcasino) und verliert seinen sehr hohen Einsatz. Wäre "würg" in so einem Fall nicht völlig daneben?

You're so right! Where is your entry "würg" so that I can vote for it? Although I would only say "würg" when whatever it is makes me want to erm.....throw up. (there are indeed alternatives to 4-letter words).
Why doesn't our Asker tell us in what context this is being said?
I appreciate that Anna is unlikely to have the visual information that this "Aggh...!" is embedded in, so I will go with my experience and gut feeling as to the intended meaning. However, more context would help (as usual). I would translate it as a)"Ah...! b)"Aua...!" or c)"Hach...!"
Ich habe "Sch..." gewählt, damit sich hier niemand aufregt - natürlich würde ich das nicht schreiben. Wenn es im Rahmen des Spiels akzeptabel ist und passt (was ich mangels Kontext nicht entscheiden kann), würde ich das Wort ausschreiben.
Mit Ingeborg und David - ohne Kontext lässt sich das nicht sagen, obwohl ich vermute, dass ein bekanntes dt Fluchwort (stärker als Inges "Mist") vermutlich passt. Aber ob man das nehmen darf?
