Wie ist der Halbsatz zwischen den Sternchen bitte gemeint?
... was das Hören zu einer lästigen Aufgabe gemacht hätte?
Irgendwie passt das nicht ... diese Figur, um die es da geht, hatte keine Ohren und konnte somit gar nichts hören.

Und wahrscheinlich nicht nur ironisch sondern auch ganz schön böse gemeint. "Erst nach ihrem Tod fanden sie heraus, dass die Dame keine Ohren hatte, was, nebenbei bemerkt, das Höhren ganz schöng schwierig machen musste". (Das "nebenbei bemerkt" ist von mir).
