Ziel des Meetings war, eine Bestandsaufnahme / eine Ist-Situation der/des ... zu machen/aufzustellen.
oder auch: Bilanz ziehen
im Sinne von: wo stehen wir? wie ist die Lage?

Hallo U! Die englische Formulierung kommt mir etwas komisch vor (Nichtmuttersprachler?) - Deinen eigenen bersetzungsvorschlag kann ich aber nicht verbessern ;-)

Explanation: Laut Langenscheidt besteht ein (für diesen Kontext wohl wichtiger) Unterschied zwischen "make a point of" und "make the point that": Ersteres wird mit "etwas hervorheben, betonen" wiedergegeben und letzteres mit "die Feststellung machen". Man sieht, dass ersteres sinngemäß sehr viel stärker ist. Mir scheint, dass die Bedeutungsvariante "einen Punkt betonen, hervorhben" hier am ehesten passt. Was sollte hier denn das bloße "feststellen" bringen?
